Bhubaneswar: Following a successful showcase in Kolkata, the national traveling art exhibition Ekaa – The One by Dr. Beena Unnikrishnan is set to open in Bhubaneswar, offering a powerful contemporary interpretation of India’s sacred feminine lineage. The immersive three-day exhibition will be held at the Buddha Art Gallery in Chandrasekharpur from March 14th to March 16th, 2026, with visiting hours scheduled from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The exhibition now reaches Bhubaneswar, home to the sacred Hirapur Chausath Yogini Temple, from where the names of the 64 Yoginis depicted in the paintings are inspired.

This exhibition marks a significant cultural milestone as it features the first-ever complete contemporary collection of all 64 Yoginis painted by a single artist.  Ekaa – The One is an ambitious national journey spanning 16 states and covering more than 10,000 kilometers to bring an ancient spiritual tradition into today’s cultural and social conversation. Moving beyond academic reconstruction or literal reproductions of temple imagery, Dr. Beena Unnikrishnan uses a contemporary visual language to explore feminine power and gender equality.

The Yoginis are revered as sacred manifestations of Shakti, the primordial feminine energy, and each painting symbolizes a distinct aspect of wisdom such as intuition, courage, and healing. The collection highlights the understanding that every person carries both feminine and masculine energies, emphasizing that the wisdom of the feminine is essential for balance, empathy, and inner strength.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to engage with the 64 paintings at their own pace and view the accompanying documentary, Y64: Whispers of the Unseen. Conceived as a non-commercial public initiative, the exhibition remains open to all visitors without any entry fee, and none of the artworks are placed for sale, reinforcing the intent to make the Yogini heritage accessible to a wider public.

Dr. Beena Unnikrishnan, a social entrepreneur and founder of the Kankali Trust for Arts and Cultural Economic Development, has dedicated her career to empowering underprivileged artistic streams and championing gender inclusivity. This arrival in Bhubaneswar continues the exhibition’s mission to reclaim India’s sacred feminine legacy through bold artistic expression and dialogue.
