TPNODL Launches LT FLC System: UG Cable Test Van for Enhanced Fault Diagnosis and Faster Restoration
Balasore, December 07, 2024: In a major advancement for power distribution reliability and cable diagnostics, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has launched the Mobile LT Underground Power Cable Fault Locator (FLC) System. This cutting-edge solution facilitates efficient cable testing and fault detection in 11kV and LT underground networks, enabling faster fault resolution and enhanced service reliability.
Three LT FLC Test Vans, equipped with state-of-the-art fault detection technology, were inaugurated by TPNODL, CEO, Dwijadas Basak at the TPNODL Corporate Office in Balasore. These vans will be stationed in Baripada, Jajpur and Keonjhar Circles, covering key areas of TPNODL’s operational geography.
TPNODL operates predominantly in rural areas with radial overhead networks crossing critical infrastructures like railway lines and national highways via underground cables. The LT FLC System enables quick fault detection in underground cables, minimizing downtime and improving service reliability. Additionally, it can instantly pinpoint invisible faults in HT and LT Aerial Bunched Cables (ABC), enhancing operational efficiency.
This latest addition complements the existing HT FLC system (CENTRIX 2.0), commissioned in August 2022, which has a testing capacity of up to 80kV and continues to serve effectively. Both systems are available as value-added services to HT-EHT consumers at nominal charges.
Speaking on the initiative, Dwijadas Basak, CEO, TPNODL, said, “The launch of these LT FLC Test Vans is a testament to TPNODL’s commitment to leveraging technology for operational excellence and customer satisfaction. These systems will significantly reduce fault resolution time, ensuring a more reliable power supply across our network.”
This milestone highlights TPNODL’s dedication to innovation and its ongoing efforts to strengthen the power distribution infrastructure across Northern Odisha.
