Burla, January 28, 2025: As part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has set up a Sports Excellence Centre at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Burla, under Sambalpur district, on the occasion of National Girl Child Day. Similarly, with a significant milestone, TPWODL has launched a self-defence training program (Taekwondo) for girl students of KV-2.
The Centre is inaugurated by Mr. Parveen Verma, CEO, TPWODL, in the presence of the principal, staff members, and faculty of the school and volunteers from TPWODL. The state-of-the-art facility aims to nurture girl students with essential self-defence skills and provide opportunities for holistic development, enabling them to excel in academics, sports, and other areas.
The day commenced with a vibrant cultural program where students showcased their talents through drama and musical performances, highlighting the importance of girl child empowerment.
The CEO, TPWODL, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the company’s commitment to fostering empowerment and self-reliance among young girls through its CSR activities. He applauded the school’s efforts and encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunities provided.
The event concluded on an inspiring note with a live demonstration of self-defence techniques by students, leaving a strong message about building confidence and ensuring safety for girls. A skit on equal opportunities for girls was showcased by the students, followed by a friendly Kho-Kho match among the students.
