Utkarsh Odisha’25 attracts investment in BonV Aero from Unicorn India Ventures

Bhubaneswar : Odisha Based deep-tech transport class aerial mobility and drone tech startup BonV Aero, has attracted Unicorn India Ventures, a technology focused venture fund for its investment. The announcement was made at the Utkarsh Odisha 2025 Conclave in Bhubaneswar.  The investment amount and company valuation remain undisclosed. BonV Aero had previously raised funding from US venture capitalist Tim Draper, known for investing in Tesla and Microsoft.

Mr Satyabrata Satpathy, Founder and CEO of BonV Aero, said, “This funding will help advance our research in eVTOL and autonomous drone technologies for defence, logistics, and emergency response.”

Mr Bhaskar Majumdar of  Unicorn India Ventures said, We are working very very closely with Startup Odisha for the last four years. We have three investments across diverse industries, all three from the deep tech sectors. We are committed to invest almost 80 to 100 Crores in the Odisha state in the next couple of years.”

The investment aligns with Odisha’s growing focus on emerging technologies and innovation-driven industries. It highlights the region’s potential in the deep-tech sector, added Shri Saswat Mishra , Principal Secretary, MSME Department, Government of Odisha.

BonV Aero designs and manufactures heavy lift transport class aerial mobility platforms for unmanned aerial logistics for Himalayan Terrains. Its Air Orca platform, used by the Indian Army, is designed for transporting heavy cargo at the altitudes of 16,000 FT. Recently, the company has been selected to join the UK Ministry of Defence’s Unmanned Aerial Systems Heavy Lift Capability (UASHLC) Framework. Odisha based  BonV Aero is planning to expand its research and development efforts, enhance production capabilities, and collaborate with industry stakeholders. The startup firm continues to work on scalable solutions to support government and commercial operations.
