Opening new mines and finding more resources is need of the time: Anil Agrawal, Chairman of Vedanta Group
Bhubaneswar: It is estimated that in the next five years, the world will need 16% more copper, 100% more lithium and almost 50% more cobalt to meet ONLY the demand for battery production.
Copper, in particular, has many other applications as well. Its property of conducting electricty makes it vital for virtually all high-tech products. The demand will soar exponentially.
Obviously, opening new mines and finding more resources via exploration is very important.
It is equally important to raise production from existing assets. India has that unique opportunity in copper.
In fact, India has great potential in the production of all metals, whether aluminium, zinc, chrome all of whose demand is growing in double digits.
