MAS breaks ground to establish MAS Apparel Park – Bhuinpur
MAS Holdings expands into Indian Market
Bhubaneswar: MAS Holdings, South Asia’s largest apparel manufacturer, broke ground to commence construction for its first venture at the MAS Apparel Park – Bhuinpur, in the Indian state of Odisha. This expansion is enabled by the Odisha Government’s initiatives to draw investment into Odisha, improving the state’s industrial growth and job opportunities, with a key focus placed on the textile and apparel sector.
The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Odisha government as well as the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and the Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Orissa Limited (IPICO) and senior leaders from MAS Holdings.
MAS expects to commence apparel production in 2026 at the first planned facility at this site. This initial unit will focus on producing value-added apparel products and will cater to both local and international markets, reinforcing MAS’ commitment to support India’s domestic apparel needs and international exports by leveraging MAS’ industry expertise.
Speaking about the partnership with the local government, Chief Executive Officer of MAS India, Malik Ahamadeen, said “MAS is happy to partner with the Odisha Government as we take this important step in creating a strong apparel ecosystem in the region. While strengthening the textile sector, we look forward to creating employment opportunities and contributing to the region’s wider economic growth and long-term development.”
Speaking at the ceremony Group Chief Executive Officer of MAS Holdings, Suren Fernando, stated that “This investment marks a significant milestone in MAS’ journey, and we are excited to leverage the vast business opportunities the venture presents. India has long been an integral part of our operations, and with 25 years of experience operating in India, we recognize the immense potential of the country’s manufacturing landscape, both for the global supply chain and the rapidly growing domestic retail sector. “
Over the next several years, MAS intends to develop this 60-acre land into a holistic apparel park, drawing upon the expertise gained through the globally recognized MAS apparel parks operating in Sri Lanka. The project aims to attract partners from the apparel industry to operate in the same location, creating an integrated supply chain for brands to leverage, offering speed and cost advantages. As per the project proposal, over a ten-year period, together with its partners, MAS Holdings will work towards creating 10,000 employment opportunities and draw in investments over USD 140 Mn cumulatively.
