Himadri to commence operations at Birla Tyres in Odisha soon, driving economic growth and job creation in the region

Cuttack : Himadri Speciality Chemical Limited (HSCL), a global leader in speciality chemicals, is placing Odisha at the center of its ambitious growth strategy. In collaboration with Dalmia Bharat Refractories Limited (DBRL), Himadri, is embarking towards commencing and modernizing operations at the Birla Tyres plant in Balasore.

With a vision to restore Birla Tyres to its former glory, Himadri aims to modernize the manufacturing facility in Balasore, Odisha, enhancing its product offerings, that align with the market demands of today and the future. It will be commencing operations with a capacity of 30 TPD and over the next 24 to 36 months, the company plans to ramp up production capacity from 30 TPD to 400 TPD, utilizing advanced technology and innovative processes.

The Birla Tyres plant in Balasore has remained non-operational since March’21, following the commencement of insolvency proceedings. After an extended shutdown, the facility is now gearing up to resume operations, providing a fresh economic lifeline to the region. The reopening of this tyre plant in Balasore, a key industrial hub in Odisha known for its manufacturing and defense industries, is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and substantially contribute to the state’s economy.

The production capacity expansion includes a structured plan for workforce development at the Balasore manufacturing unit in Odisha with Phase 1 to begin with the onboarding of around 600 employees, a blend of experienced workers from the industry and fresh graduates from local technical institutions. This number is projected to grow to over 3,000 over the coming years as the company expands its operations at the plant, providing crucial employment opportunities to the local diaspora.
