TPNODL Upgrades Distribution Transformers (DTRs) to Ensure Reliable and Quality Electricity Supply
Balasore – July 22, 2025 – TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has upgraded electricity infrastructure to ensure reliable power supply to its consumers and meet the increasing electricity demand. As part of this initiative, key electricity transformers have been upgraded across several districts.
In the Ghatagaon area of Keonjhar district, a 100 kV transformer has been replaced with a 250 kV unit, while Vidyadharpur saw a 63 kV transformer upgraded to 100 kV. Similar efforts were made in Raghunathpur (Mayurbhanj district) and Akhuapada (Bhadrak district), where 100 kV transformers were upgraded to 250 kV. In the Rairangpur division, the Kantabani and Uparabedha areas witnessed upgrades from 25 kV to 100 kV, and in Joda, Keonjhar, a 100 kV unit was also upgraded to 250 kV. These enhancements are meant to cater to the demands of a broader consumer base by ensuring electricity with greater voltage stability.
TPNODL’s efforts go beyond capacity enhancement—safety and long-term resilience are also top priorities. The company is constructing boundary walls around all previously unfenced transformers to prevent accidental contact and enhance public and animal safety, particularly in residential and high-footfall areas. These changes will help prevent accidents and ensure a safer environment, especially for children and vulnerable community members. TPNODL believes that a strong power infrastructure is not just about technical performance—it’s about the well-being and daily comfort of the people who rely on it.
These recent developments form part of TPNODL’s broader mission to provide quality and reliable electricity to every corner of Northern Odisha. The company remains deeply committed to improving the quality of life for its consumers by strengthening the distribution network and ensuring a steady, safe and efficient power supply. With continuous engagement at the grassroots level, TPNODL is turning infrastructure into impact—lighting up homes, supporting livelihoods, and powering progress for communities across the region.
