Vedanta Aluminium organizes fire safety awareness program for students
Jharsuguda : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, conducted a comprehensive fire safety awareness program at the Government High School, Sarbahal, under its Agni Jagrukta training initiative. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 150 students and staff members, who were sensitised on critical fire prevention techniques and emergency response protocols.
The program was aimed at sensitizing young students on essential safety measures through interactive discussions and live demonstrations. Experts from Vedanta Aluminium’s fire safety team trained participants on preventive measures to avoid fire hazards, safe evacuation procedures, and basic emergency response strategies. A key highlight was the hands-on demonstration of fire extinguisher usage, where students and teachers practiced real-time firefighting techniques, gaining practical confidence to manage emergencies responsibly.
Speaking on the initiative, C. Chandru, CEO – Vedanta Jharsuguda, said, “At Vedanta Aluminium, safety is not just a workplace priority, it is a community responsibility. Through initiatives like Agni Jagrukta, we aim to instil safety awareness at the grassroots level, empowering young minds with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies. Tanmayee Shubhashree, Headmistress of Government High School, Sarbahal, said, “This training is a valuable initiative that makes our school a safer place for children. By learning these practices early, students are better equipped to handle unexpected situations, and this knowledge will stay with them throughout their lives.”
As part of its ongoing Agni Jagrukta initiative, Vedanta Aluminium has trained over 500 students across five schools in Jharsuguda, equipping them with essential fire safety skills. The company aims to expand the programme to more educational institutions in the coming months, building a culture of safety that extends beyond classrooms into homes and communities.
