8th Tusu Festival–2026 Celebrated at Shuliapadar with Much Fervour
Baripada, 16th January 2026 : The 8th Tusu Festival–2026, organized by the Badasole Village Committee of Suliapada, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour, showcasing the rich folk heritage and community spirit of the region. The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Minister, Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha Dr Krushna chandra Mahapatra attended the event as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering Dr Mahspatra highlighted that folk cultural programmes such as Tusu singing play a vital role in preserving and promoting traditional art, literature, culture, customs, and values. These programmes help create an atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood in society, also reflecting the unique expressions of local folk traditions.

The festival is noted for its strong emphasis on youth engagement and women’s empowerment, as Tusu songs traditionally provide a powerful platform for women to express social realities, aspirations, and cultural identity. Such events also help inculcate cultural and social awareness among the younger generation.
The Chief Guest Dr Mahapatra appreciated the organisers for their dedicated efforts in honouring folk art and keeping age-old traditions alive through a well-organised cultural programme. On the occasion, young talents who excelled in various sports competitions were felicitated and awarded prizes, encouraging them to pursue excellence in both cultural and sporting activities.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers, artists, youth, and community members, reaffirming the enduring relevance of folk culture in contemporary society.
