Berhampur – A Lineman of TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), Mr. Jukta Keshari Behera, was assaulted while performing official duty on 26 February 2026 at Tikiripada village of Rayagada district. TPSODL has strongly condemned the incident and termed the act unacceptable.
According to sources, at around 12 PM, Mr. Behera, along with a team from the Electrical Section Office, Kashipur, Chandragiri, visited the village to collect outstanding electricity dues as part of routine revenue recovery activities. During the course of the drive, one individual reportedly confronted the team and physically attacked Mr. Behera.
The assault resulted in injuries to the employee, including bleeding from his nose, mouth, and left eye. Other staff members present at the scene immediately intervened, rescued him, and ensured he received medical attention.
Following the incident, TPSODL officials lodged a written complaint at Kashipur Police Station. An FIR (No. 0050) has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and police have initiated an investigation. An Investigating Officer has been assigned to the case.
Locals strongly condemned the attack, stating that violence against employees discharging lawful duties is unacceptable. The company has demanded strict and exemplary action against the accused to ensure the safety and security of field staff.
