Bhubaneswar: OPGC has achieved a significant milestone in operational excellence and reliability by securing the first position among all state-sector power generation companies in India. According to performance data up to May 2026, OPGC ranked highest nationally among power generation companies owned by state governments. The company also secured the 10th position in the overall national ranking, which includes both public and private-sector power generation companies. In the category of large power plants with a capacity of more than 1,000 MW, OPGC achieved 6th place. This accomplishment reflects the company’s outstanding Plant Load Factor (PLF), a key indicator of power plant performance and efficiency.
This success has been attributed to the strategic guidance and continuous support of Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. His vision for strengthening the state’s power sector and promoting energy self-reliance has provided new direction and momentum to OPGC’s initiatives. According to the press release, OPGC’s consistent high performance is the result of efficient power generation, proactive plant maintenance, and the dedication of its employees. The company continues to play a vital role in meeting Odisha’s growing electricity demand while maintaining the highest industry standards. This achievement not only strengthens OPGC’s position among the country’s leading power producers but also represents an important step toward building a stronger and more self-reliant energy ecosystem in Odisha.
