Anniversary of “Patient First” Program celebrated at Shanti Memorial Hospital
Bhubaneswar: Shanti Memorial Hospital celebrated the first anniversary of launching it’s ‘Patient First’program in the hospital.In October 2021, all staff members of the hospital were formally trained under the “Patient First” program, to see and experience things through the eyes of the patients and decide what’s best for the patient, keeping the patient’s personal needs, wants, desires, and goals in mind, so that the individual becomes central to the care and treating process.
A patient centric hospital can well outline the institution’s growth path especially when the needs of the patient are addressed in a holistic manner. Providing quality health care too has become an essential part to have a sustainable care and treatment system. The Patient First ideology was introduced in October 2021 and in the anniversary function, a comparative analysis was presented highlighting how the ideology has improved the feedback on the hospital and performance of employees at different levels.
Managing Director of the hospital, eminent surgeon Dr.Sreejoy Patnaik addressed the employees and appreciated their efforts for making such change which has improved patient delight manifold times. Speaking on the occasion he said “With the diverse and complex demands from patients, giving quality & customized care now has a definite impact on health outcomes. It contributes to a more positive patient recovery experience and improves the physical and mental quality of life for people with illnesses. A continued approach towards the patient’s treatment journey strengthens communication, builds trust, yields rich data for making decisions, and helps overall improvement of the patient’s treatment experience.”
Several employees who were rated by patients received awards and promotional badges of Patient First Champions during the function. Medical Director and eminent surgeon Dr.Chitta Ranjan Das inspired the employees and advised to make people feel happy with continuous good behaviour. A fun spot quiz contest was also conducted for the employees to brighten up the session. Delighted employees shared their experiences gathered during the journey and narrated how patient first ideology has changed their vision , approach and work pattern. Mr. Pramod Pani- Head- Human Resource thanked each one for their active contribution. The programme was conducted by Head-Operations Mr. Paritosh Das.
