Bhubaneswar, 07/03/2025: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Prof. (Dr.) Nerbadyswari Deep Bag, former Head of the Radiodiagnosis Department and Senior Professor at the institute. Her passing on March 5th, 2025, has left a void that will be hard to fill, but her legacy will live on for decades to come.

Dr. Bag was an exemplary figure and a true embodiment of women empowerment. Her vibrant personality, exceptional leadership qualities, and unwavering dedication to her profession have left an indelible mark on AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Her contributions to the growth and development of the institute were immense, and she will forever be remembered for her selfless service to the medical community and society.

Executive Director, Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, leading the tribute, expressed, “Dr. Nerbadyswari Deep Bag was more than a colleague; she was an inspiration to all of us. A pioneer in her field, she played a pivotal role in shaping AIIMS Bhubaneswar and its future. Her passion for excellence and her spirit of empowerment will continue to inspire generations.”

A special condolence meeting was held yesterday at the main auditorium of AIIMS Bhubaneswar to honour her memory. Dr. Biswas, along with Dean Dr. P R Mohapatra, MS Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, and the entire AIIMS Bhubaneswar family, paid floral tributes to Dr. Bag, recalling her immense contributions to the institution and the field of medical sciences.

Dr. Bag, who retired as the Professor and Head of the Radiodiagnosis Department on 31st December 2024, was known for her remarkable achievements throughout her illustrious career. Her legacy includes not only her professional accolades but also the impact she made on her students, colleagues, and the institution as a whole.
