Amorphous Metal Distribution Transformers repair workshop organized
Bhubaneswar: In order to highlight the benefits of amorphous metal distribution transformers, a repair workshop was organized at Alfa Transformers Ltd in Bhubaneswar in its premises here today. It is jointly organized by collaboration of Alfa Transformers Limited and Hitachi Metal India Pvt Ltd.The Amorphous metal Distribution transformers are highly energy efficient transformers; M/s Hitachi Metals manufacturers Amorphous metal material for transformers, compared to conventional materials such as silicon steel, amorphous metal materials have a small no-load loss (iron loss), 1/5 that of silicon steel. Therefore, they make a major contribution to energy conservation. Hitachi Metals provides amorphous metal ribbon.
On this occasion, Mr Debasish Das, Director, Alfa Transformers Limited said that, “We are extremely pleased to organize this repair workshop in Bhubaneswar and I would like to thank all participants of four discoms. Earlier misconception was spread about amorphous transformer is not repairable which is not true at all. We organized a live repair session with an old transformer just to showcase that these transformers are easily repairable. Odisha has heavily dependent on CRGO transformer that are not easily available and to become scare in years. But amorphous star 3 and 4 transformers are widely used across different states. These are energy efficient and repairable and will helpful to reduce the AT&C losses.”
Mr. Ishan Pathak, Sr Manager (Sales & Marketing), M/s Hitachi Metal India Pvt Ltd. who presented the benefits of AMDT’s mentioned “There are two types of transformer used it electricity sector- conventional CRGO transformer and Amorphous transformers. Main objective of this repair workshop is to explain Discoms about various benefit of energy efficient amorphous transformer, in which iron losses (No Load Losses) are 70% less than any other type of transformer. Earlier, a misconception was spread across Odisha that amorphous transformers are not repairable which is a blatant lie. Through this repair workshop a technical team live opened a old amorphous transformer and repaired that in front of invited Discom representatives.
In Odisha, predominantly CRGO transformers are widely used in electricity supply system. If state start using the amorphous transformer & if the same are being supplied under RDSS Scheme which is the flagship scheme by Indian govt (MoP) to promote Energy efficiency by loss Reduction then it will be a great help to Nation in achieving the desired goal i.e. AT&C loss reduction. More than 1.5 Million AMDT’s have already been supplied & are presently working fine in field. States like Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh also using amorphous transformers successfully. Odisha can replicate that success by adopting this energy efficient transformer.
