In a significant development, the Ministry of Coal has reported a remarkable surge in coal production for the month of October 2023, underlining the nation’s progress towards energy self-sufficiency. The production reached an impressive 78.65 Million Tonnes (MT), marking an 18.59% increase compared to the 66.32 MT produced in the corresponding month of the previous year.
Coal India Limited (CIL), a key player in the coal sector, has played a pivotal role in this achievement, with its production increasing to 61.07 MT in October 2023, a significant rise from 52.94 MT in the same month of 2022, demonstrating a growth of 15.36%.
The cumulative coal production up to October 2023 has shown a substantial increase, reaching 507.02 MT in the fiscal year 2023-24, compared to 448.49 MT in the same period in the previous fiscal year, marking a growth rate of 13.05%. This achievement is a testament to the relentless efforts made to boost coal production and ensure a stable energy supply.
Coal dispatch has also witnessed a remarkable boost, with a total of 79.30 MT in October 2023, a significant improvement from the 67.13 MT recorded in October 2022, showcasing a remarkable growth rate of 18.14%. Coal India Limited (CIL) has played a pivotal role in this achievement, dispatching 61.65 MT in October 2023, a notable increase from 53.69 MT in October 2022, representing a growth of 14.83%.
The cumulative coal dispatch up to October 2023 has surged to 541.73 MT in the fiscal year 2023-24, in comparison to 483.78 MT during the same period in the previous fiscal year, demonstrating a growth of 11.98%. This robust performance in both coal production and dispatch signifies the nation’s ongoing pursuit of energy self-sufficiency, aligning with its commitment to meet the ever-growing energy demands.
