Bhubaneswar ITF Junior Tennis Tournament 2024 Concludes in Style
Bhubaneswar, May 10, 2024 – The J30 Bhubaneswar ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors 2024 concluded with much fanfare and excitement as young talents from around the world showcased their skills on the court. Under the auspices of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) organised by Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) with the support of the Government of Odisha, the tournament witnessed fierce competition and memorable matches.
The tournament, graced by esteemed guests President of OTA, Shri Asit Tripathy IAS (Retired), Secretary OTA, Dr. Satyajit Mohanty IPS (Retired), Joint Secretary OTA cum Tournament Director Shri Sanjeeb Panda, IPS, and Sidharth Das, Director of Sports, Government of Odisha, celebrated the spirit of tennis and talent development.
Under the supervision of Prabin Kumar Nayak, ITF Supervisor, and coordinated by Shri Sambit Patnaik, the tournament ran smoothly, ensuring a seamless experience for players and spectators alike.
With a total of 115 entries, including participants from Canada, Nepal, Bangladesh, USA, and India, the tournament boasted an impressive 96% attendance rate, highlighting its global appeal and the growing popularity of tennis in the region.
In the Boys Singles final, Praneel Sharma (IND) emerged victorious after defeating Debasis Sahoo (IND) with a score of 6-4, 7-5, showcasing exceptional skill and determination.
The Girls Singles final saw Priyanka Rana (USA) clinch the title by defeating Prisha Nikhil Shinde (IND) with a commanding scoreline of 6-3, 6-0, displaying remarkable prowess on the court.
In the Girls Doubles final, Laxmisiri Dandu (IND) and Priyanka Rana (USA) emerged triumphant after a thrilling encounter against Aakruti Sonkusare Narayan Sonkusare and Sohini Sanjay Mohanty (IND), winning with a score of 6-7(4), 6-4, [10-3].
In the Boys Doubles final, Ojas Mehlawat and Adhiraj Thakur (IND) showcased exceptional teamwork and skill to overcome Rohith Hari Balaji Gobina Gobinath and Thirumurugan Viswanathan (IND) with a score of 6-3, 6-2, to claim the title.
The tournament concluded on a high note, reaffirming Bhubaneswar’s position as a premier destination for tennis events and providing a platform for young talents to shine on the international stage.
