IIT Bhubaneswar organises Health Check-up Camp as part of Sewa Parv and Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan

Bhubaneswar, 22nd September 2025: As part of the ongoing ‘Sewa Parv’ and ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, organised a Health Check-up Camp for the female fraternity of the Institute; residents of the migrant workers’ colony and the sanitary workers of the campus on 21st September 2025. The camp was conducted jointly by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), Women Welfare Committee (WWC), Team NSS, Sanjeevan Health Center, and Team Literacy Mission of IIT Bhubaneswar.

As part of the health camp, Dr. Anu Bansal of Sanjeevan Health Center delivered an awareness talk on Breast, Cervical and Oral Cancer for the women participants. While she stressed on the importance of early detection of these diseases, she also urged the female participants to be vaccinated by HPV vaccine to protect themselves against Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection that causes cervical cancer.

The programme included essential health screening such as blood pressure, blood sugar, estimation of hemoglobin followed by doctor consultations. Medicines were distributed free of cost to participants after consultation. Consultations related to childcare and nutrition were also provided to the mothers who participated in the camp. The female participants were advised on the importance of menstrual hygiene and reusable sanitary pads were also distributed for free to them. Around 75 people benefitted from this health camp. The NSS and UBA volunteers provided their services in the smooth organization of the health camp.

Dr. Seema Bahinipati, Professor-in-Charge (Health Care); Dr. Madhusmita Dash, Coordinator (UBA); Dr. Anasuya Roychowdhury, Chairperson (WWC); Dr. Sivaiah Bathula, NSS Coordinator and Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Senior Medical Officer, Sanjeevan Health Center were present on this occasion.

It may be mentioned that guided by the vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047, Sewa Parv seeks to bring together communities, institutions, and individuals in a collective spirit of sewa (service), innovation, and cultural pride. IIT Bhubaneswar is actively taking part in this initiative by organizing different programmes for its stakeholders. Also, as part of the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, the Institute is conducting various programmes for the healthcare and welfare of its female members.
