No Power Outage During Maintenance of OPTCL Grid
Burla, February 5, 2026: TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and Government of Odisha, successfully ensured uninterrupted power supply to consumers during scheduled annual maintenance activities carried out by OPTCL at major grid substations in Sambalpur and Katapali.
On February 3, 2026, OPTCL undertook annual maintenance work at the Sambalpur Grid Substation, which is the primary power source for Sambalpur city, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Despite the planned shutdown, TPWODL maintained electricity supply to 71,837 out of 80,983 consumers, covering nearly 90 percent of the connected load.
Power supply remained uninterrupted across key residential, commercial, and institutional areas including Ainthapali, Budharaja, Greater Sambalpur, GM College area, Gujrati Colony, LIC Colony, Green Park, Laxmi Takis, District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Putibandh, Jail Chowk, Cheruapada, Sason, and Rengali through well-planned alternative arrangements.
Similarly, on February 4, 2026, during OPTCL’s annual maintenance at the Katapali Grid Substation, TPWODL proactively implemented alternate power supply systems to ensure uninterrupted electricity to more than 25,000 consumers. Essential locations such as Burla Medical, Godbhaga, Chaurpur, Attabira, Jyotivihar, and surrounding residential areas continued to receive reliable power without disruption.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Parveen Verma, Chief Executive Officer, TPWODL, said,“Ensuring reliable power supply to our consumers, even during critical maintenance activities, remains our top priority. Through advance planning, strong coordination, and robust alternative arrangements, our teams were able to significantly minimize inconvenience to consumers. This reflects TPWODL’s continued commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.”
Like in Sambalpur during maintenance or breakdown, power supply from alternative source has also been planned for other towns in western Odisha. This will be executed in phased manner.
The successful execution of these activities was driven by meticulous planning, timely execution, and close coordination among TPWODL’s operations, planning, and field teams. Infrastructure strengthening initiatives and development of alternate power routes played a key role in maintaining uninterrupted supply during the maintenance period.
TPWODL’s proactive approach once again underlines its strong focus on reliability, efficiency, and customer-centric service, reaffirming its commitment to providing quality power supply to the people of western Odisha.
