Nuvoco’s Odisha Cement Plant Empowers Women Through Skill Development Programme
Jajpur: Nuvoco Vistas Corp Ltd, India’s fifth-largest cement group by capacity, has launched a Skill Development Programme (Tailoring Training Centre) at Pankpal, Jajpur, under its CSR initiative “Saksham Bharat”. This initiative aims to provide local women with valuable tailoring skills, fostering financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.
The first batch of the programme has enrolled 29 women, with three training sessions conducted daily from 10 AM to 4 PM. Over the next nine months, the centre plans to train 70 women, equipping them with practical vocational skills to enhance their income opportunities. The launch event was attended by Mr. Ravindra Dharkar, Plant Head, Odisha Cement Plant, HR Head, other officials, local villagers, and trainees.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravindra Dharkar stated, “At Nuvoco, we believe skill development is a powerful tool for empowerment. This training centre will enable women to build sustainable livelihoods and gain financial independence. By equipping them with tailoring skills, we are not only creating employment opportunities but also fostering self-reliance and confidence.”
This programme, along with other key initiatives such as Nuvo Mason and Project Samriddhi, reflects Nuvoco’s commitment to social welfare and community development.
