Bhubaneswar: Odisha is witnessing rapid growth in the shampoo hair colour category, reflecting a rising preference for quick and convenient hair colouring solutions. Consumers in the state are increasingly choosing shampoo hair colour, a do-it-yourself (DIY) format that eliminates the need for professional assistance.

Industry analysts attribute this surge in demand to the convenience of shampoo-based applications, which provide a fast and efficient alternative to conventional hair dyes such as powders and mehndi, making them well-suited for modern lifestyles.
“As consumers seek personalized and innovative hair colour solutions, the growth in demand for shampoo hair colour has been significant,” said Neeraj Senguttuvan, Head of Marketing – Personal Care at Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL).
Recognizing this shift, Godrej Consumer Products offer Godrej Selfie, a five-minute shampoo hair colour brand. The unisex product comes in two sizes, INR 15 pack meant specially for short hair consumers while INR 30 pack is primarily for long hair consumers.
“This offering will also nudge consumers using other low-cost hair colours like powder and mehndi hair colour to upgrade to an affordable yet convenient and better solution,” Senguttuvan added. Odisha’s shampoo hair colour segment is witnessing over 32% growth rate, highlighting the state’s increasing adoption of this convenient hair colouring format.
With the category witnessing strong momentum, industry experts predict that Odisha will play an increasingly significant role in shaping India’s hair colour market in the coming years.
