Bhubaneswar, Odisha – The Indian National Congress and the people of Odisha are deeply saddened by the passing of veteran politician Devendra Sharma on 21 March 2025. A stalwart leader of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, he served with unwavering dedication as a Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and remained a powerful voice for the people of Aul constituency.

Born on 18 March 1959, Devendra Sharma’s political journey was marked by his deep commitment to public service. As the 15th MLA from Aul (2014-2019), he tirelessly worked for the welfare of his constituents and played a crucial role in strengthening the Congress party’s presence in Odisha. Throughout his career, he was a strong advocate for social justice, rural development, and the empowerment of marginalized communities.

A respected figure in Odisha’s political landscape, Sharma was known for his integrity, leadership, and relentless pursuit of policies that benefited the common people. His contributions to the Odisha Legislative Assembly as a member of the Opposition were instrumental in upholding democratic values and ensuring accountability in governance.
