Burla, July 28, 2025: In a major step towards consumer benefit, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has provided rebate of Rs. 72.05 crore from the electricity bills of 10.71 lakh consumers across western Odisha for the financial year 2024–25. This rebate has been provided in the June 2025 billing cycle towards the interest on security deposits collected from electricity consumers.
This rebate has been extended to electricity consumers across all nine districts under TPWODL’s jurisdiction. The move reflects the company’s continued commitment to consumer welfare and regulatory compliance.
District-wise, the highest waiver of Rs. 25.20 crore was granted in Jharsuguda to 1,08,474 consumers, followed by Rs. 23.82 crore in Sundergarh, benefitting 2,48,012 consumers. In Sambalpur district, Rs. 8.82 crore was waived for 1,26,850 consumers, while in Bargarh, 1,87,195 consumers received a rebate of Rs. 3.70 crore.
In Kalahandi district, Rs. 3.88 crore was waived for 1,17,188 consumers. Similarly, Rs. 3.27 crore was provided in Bolangir to 1,52,259 consumers. Other districts that benefited include Sonepur, where Rs. 1.70 crore was waived for 48,976 consumers; Nuapada, with Rs. 1.23 crore for 52,714 consumers; and Deogarh, with Rs. 0.44 crore waived for 29,430 consumers.
