Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs launch Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP) in Partnership with KIIT University; Pioneer Batch Commenced on 31 January 2026
Bhubaneswar, Feb 01, 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to building future-ready technical capabilities and enabling continuous professional development, Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs marked the commencement of its Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP) for its employees, in association with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University on January 31, 2026. The program has been designed to support Employees with Diploma in Electrical to pursue B.Tech in Electrical while continuing their professional responsibilities.
The initiative reflects Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs’ strong focus on capability building and strengthening technical expertise across operations. The response to the program has been highly encouraging, with strong interest received from employees across all four DISCOMs. Following a rigorous selection process, a total of 80 participants have been finalized, with equal representation from each DISCOM, ensuring balanced capability development across operational geographies.
The founding batch commencing its academic journey, marked an important milestone in the DISCOMs’ people development roadmap. The Work Integrated Learning Program is structured to combine academic learning with real-world utility sector exposure, enabling participants to directly apply classroom concepts to field operations, network management, safety protocols, and emerging digital distribution technologies.
The batch commencement event was held in the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT DU, key delegates from KIIT University, Dr. Ranabir Chakraborty, Chief Business HR (T&D Cluster), Mr. Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL, Mr. Shyam Sundar Choudhury, Chief – Business HR (Odisha DISCOMs), Mr. K Rabi Achary, Head – HR, TPCODL and Mr. Ramendra Banik, Head – HR, IR, ES & Admin, TPNODL.
Speaking on the occasion, senior leadership from KIIT University and Tata Power and highlighted that the program is not merely an academic intervention, but a strategic talent and leadership pipeline building program, aimed at creating technically sound, future-ready leaders for Odisha’s power distribution sector. Participants were advised to effectively balance professional responsibilities and academic rigor to ensure both progress in tandem. They were also advised to make the most out of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
On the occasion, Mr Gajanan Kale, Chief Odisha Distribution Business spoke about this unique initiative, sharing that this is a milestone in Organizations’ endeavor towards Employees’ wellness and growth.
