Tata Steel Celebrates 121st Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata Across Its Odisha Units

Bhubaneswar, July 29, 2025: Tata Steel commemorated the 121st birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata across its operational units in Odisha with a series of tributes and community activities. Employees, families, and vendor partners came together to honour the legacy of the iconic leader whose values continue to shape Tata Steel’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and sustainability.
In Bhubaneswar the Homage was paid at the Chief Resident Executive office, and other group companies like Tata Steel Technical Services Limited, Tata Steel Business Delivery Centre and The Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre. The Naval Tata Hockey HPC concluded the 2nd JRD Tata Invitational Hockey Tournament (July 24–29), featuring 12 teams at Kalinga Stadium today.
At Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK), floral tributes were offered by the Senior leadership and staff members. Activities included a blood donation drive in collaboration with Odisha Blood Centre and Central Red Cross Blood Centre, a walkathon at the township, visits to orphanages, and distribution of sports kits and umbrellas to local schools. Sapling plantation drives were also held. 317 units and 41 units of blood were collected at Kalinganagar and Bamnipal, respectively.
Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) and Ferro Alloys Plant, Bamnipal, observed the day with similar tributes. At NINL, children of employees participated in a quiz competition on JRD Tata’s life.
At Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM), Uttam Singh, VP- Operations and company employees paid floral tributes. The day featured sports events, quiz competitions, and fun games for employees and their families in the TSM township.
In Joda, tributes were offered across multiple locations including JCO Complex, Joda East Iron Mine, Khandbandh Mine, Manganese Mines, Kalamang, Gandhalpada, Bichhakundi, Nilachal Office, Joda Ferro Alloy Plant, and Bileipada Sponge Plant. The celebrations featured walkathons, plantation drives, and quizzes.
The Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD), along with its Bhubaneswar head office and other units across Odisha, also paid tributes.
