Tata Steel’s Khondbond Iron & Manganese Mine celebrates ‘Mines Safety Week’
Joda: Khondbond Iron and Manganese Mine, operated by Tata Steel, celebrated the 41st ‘Mines Safety Week’ on Monday.The event was organized under the aegis of the Director General of Mines (DGMS)’s Bhubaneswar regional office and witnessed a publicity and propaganda program on mines and environmental safety.
The event was attended by Ram Shankar Sharma, AVP, Mining Operation, Narayanposhi Mines (JSW); Satyakam Das, DGM, Thakurani Mines (ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel); Subash Dash, DGM, Kashia Mine; Bijaya Sethi, Manager, Kurmitar Mine; Atul Kumar Bhatanagar, General Manager (OMQ), Tata Steel; GV Satyanarayan, Chief, Khandbandh Mine, Tata Steel, along with other employees and workers of Tata Steel, representatives of vendor partners, and students from nearby schools.
An inspection team visited several locations in Joda, assessing safety measures concerning the environment and mines, and praised the company’s commitment to safety.
Ram Shankar Sharma, AVP, Mining Operation, Narayanposhi Mines (JSW), observed the modern technology used in the mine through models displayed on environment and mineral conservation by vendor partners and students.
During the event, students from various schools showcased slogans and placards. At the conclusion of the event, an award distribution ceremony was organized.
