Bhubaneswar: The quest for rare earths may determine war and peace in today’s world. Rare earths are a set of 17 minerals without which you would not have smartphones, smart TVs or practically any cutting-edge technology.

At present, China controls 70% of the world’s rare earth supply. That is why US President Trump is making the mineral deal with Ukraine central to his strategy to end the war with Russia. Congo’s President is also offering America access to minerals in return for security.
