Dr. Mihir Meghani Pledges USD 1.5 Million to Hindu American Foundation at Silicon Valley Gala

In a significant commitment to Hindu advocacy and awareness causes in the United States, prominent Indian-American emergency care physician, Dr. Mihir Meghani, has pledged a total of USD 4 million. Dr. Meghani, the founder of the Hindu America Foundation, made the announcement at the organization’s annual Silicon Valley gala earlier this month, expressing that Hinduism is not merely a religion but a way of life.

Dr. Meghani, alongside his wife Tanvi, has already contributed USD 1.5 million to the Hindu American Foundation and an additional million dollars over the past 15 years to various Hindu and Indian organizations and causes. In an exclusive interview with PTI, Dr. Meghani shared his commitment to donate an additional USD 1.5 million over the next eight years to pro-India and Hindu organizations.

This commitment potentially establishes Dr. Meghani as one of the most significant Indian American donors for the Hindu cause in the United States. He emphasized the importance of Hindus embracing their identity, both as Indians and Hindus, to foster a deeper understanding among colleagues, friends, and neighbors.

“What we need are Hindus to be strong in the Bharatiya or Indian identity, which is the political identity for our civilization, but also they should be very proud and open about their Hindu identity. And when they have that, their coworkers, their friends, and neighbors will understand us better,” Dr. Meghani stated.

Dr. Meghani reflected on the Hindu American Foundation’s early successes, highlighting the achievement of getting Diwali recognized in the United States. The foundation, initially driven by volunteerism, now boasts an annual budget of USD 2.5 million and has expanded its team to include several full-time staff members. Dr. Meghani envisions further growth, with a goal to increase the foundation’s budget to USD 5 million next year and USD 20 million by the end of the decade. The ongoing commitment and contributions from individuals like Dr. Meghani play a crucial role in advancing Hindu causes and fostering awareness in the American landscape.
