World Alzheimer’s Month observed with awareness activities in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar : To mark World Alzheimer’s Day on 21st September, the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), Bhubaneswar Chapter, in collaboration with the Silver Age Foundation for Elders, is holding Community Engagement & Awareness Programs on 19th September at Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall (4.00–6.00 PM) and 21st September at Budha Jayanti Park (7.00–9.00 AM).

The events include interactive sessions, sing for memory activities, memory games, and information booths to spread awareness on dementia and reduce stigma. Silver Age Foundation, working to improve the well-being and engagement of senior citizens, is actively partnering in the initiative.

The program is supported by CSM Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Kalinga Hospital, and Prelude, with participation from caregivers, volunteers, and elders.

ARDSI Coordinator and Silver Age Co-founder Amar Jyoti Mahapatra highlighted that dementia is rising rapidly due to longevity and nuclear families, requiring joint efforts from government and civil society. Executive Director Dillip Das coordinated the program.
Currently, 9 million Indians live with dementia, a number projected to reach 17 million by 2036.
