Strong resolve defies all odds to success: Jio powers the dreams of physically disadvantaged Anita Sahoo

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from an indomitable will”. 

For Anita Sahoo, a young divyang girl from Amuniapatana village in Nimapara block of Puri district in Odisha, this statement is a true reflection of her journey to success, defying all odds and obstacles.

Produdly speaking about her journey to success Anita says “I am 80% Divyang. But I have always tried to overcome my physical constraints to move ahead on the path of progress and fulfill my dreams. At a time when I was looking for a career from home, Jio’s work-from-home opportunity as a ‘Jio Customer Associate’ has been immensely helpful to me. With this income, I could fulfill my dream of buying a motorized wheelchair, allowing me to move around independently for the first time since childhood.”

Recognising the hard work and the truly inspiring story of Anita, Jio Odisha Business Head Gaurav Kumar spoke to her on a video call and commended her strong resolve to succeed, defying all odds.

Anita’s story has inspired thousands of women across Odisha to pursue career paths from the comfort of their homes and schedule work time as per their convenience. Based on her own experience Anita says, “With self-confidence and the mindset that ‘I can do it’, women can work from home or anywhere to earn a good income and realize their goals. Over 2600 girls and women are currently working as Jio Customer Associates in Odisha and fulfilling their dreams.”

She further added that Jio Associate program has truly helped in empowerment and development of thousands of women and expressed hope that Jio continues to bring many such initiatives to help women progress, prosper, and remain independent.

It is worth mentioning that Jio Customer Associate (JCA) programme is an aspirational programme, helping women become self-reliant. It engages women on a freelancing basis, gives them opportunities to earn while working as per their convenience, from the comfort of their homes. The key role of JCAs includes assisting customers in doing recharges, helping them get acquainted with online payment options and aiding prospective customers in making a purchase decision like booking JioAirFiber, among others. Operating in a digital way while learning customer handling etiquettes, service and productivity skills has equipped JCAs to not only grow in life but also help in the mission of Jio Digital Life for all Indians. With continuous training, skill development and digital tools, JCAs are equipped to assist customers in all possible ways.  

Also, for scores of Jio users, especially in the hinterlands, Jio Customer Associate programme has truly come as a boon as they are now able to converse in their local language and dialects transcending the barrier of language, helping them understand various products and services better while making a choice.
