IG Drones rebrands as IG Defence, expanding horizons
Bhubaneswar: IG Drones, one of India’s most trusted unmanned systems companies, has evolved into IG Defence, marking a natural progression from a Drone focused organisation into a full spectrum defence technology company. This transition reflects a simple but serious mission to build sovereign, reliable and battle ready defence systems for India’s future.
Modern warfare is changing rapidly. Conflicts today are shaped by autonomy, intelligence, electronic dominance, cyber resilience and seamless coordination across air, land, sea and space. Recent high intensity operations, including Operation Sindoor where IG Drones played a crucial role, have reinforced a clear reality. India cannot depend on imported systems that are designed for foreign doctrines and foreign battlefields. Real strategic autonomy requires technologies built in India, for Indian terrain, Indian forces and Indian missions. IG Defence has been created to meet that responsibility.
Speaking on the evolution, Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder and CEO, IG Defence, said: “IG Defence represents a deeper sense of responsibility. India is entering an era where wars will be shaped by intelligence, autonomy and integration across domains. Our focus is to build dependable, world class defence systems that are designed and manufactured in India and reduce long term dependency. The guidance of leaders who have spent their lives in service of the nation gives us clarity, discipline and direction as we build for the future.
To support this expanded mission, IG Defence has brought some of India’s most respected military leaders into its senior leadership. Their association is not symbolic. It reflects a shared belief that India’s future defence capabilities must be shaped through close alignment between operational experience and indigenous technology development.
Lt. General Anil Kumar Samantara, AVSM, VSM, SM (Retd) brings over four decades of leadership, including his role as Director General of Infantry where he oversaw modernisation programmes and led major indigenous procurement reforms. His insights will be central to IG Defence’s land systems and mission critical platforms.
Lt. General Anil Chait (Retd), former Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, joins with deep experience in joint operations, integrated theatre planning and national level crisis management. His tri service perspective strengthens IG Defence’s alignment with how India’s future commands.
Air Commodore Rajendra N. Gaekwad, AVSM, VSM (Retd) joins IG Defence after 35 years of service in the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot, operational commander and technology planner. His experience in weapons induction, aerospace modernisation and future capability development will guide IG Defence’s aviation and autonomous systems programmes
