Jamshedpur to Host Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship for the Second Time and Inaugurates First Bouldering Wall in JRD Tata Sports Complex

Jamshedpur: The highly anticipated Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 2023 is set to take place in Jamshedpur from December 8 to 10. Hosted by the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) Sport Climbing Academy, this event will be the second time that Jamshedpur has hosted such a tournament, showcasing its growing prominence in the sport.

With over 100 young athletes from 11 Asian countries participating, including a formidable Indian team of 31 athletes, the championship promises intense competition. This year’s edition will also see the inclusion of new countries like Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Nepal, fostering unity and collaboration among Asian nations through sports.

Marking a significant milestone in India’s sport climbing infrastructure, an IFSC-certified international bouldering wall was inaugurated today by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel. This 36m height wall, the first of its kind in the country, meets international standards set by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC). Not only will the bouldering wall enables TSAF to host major international sport climbing competitions, but it will also enhance the training methodologies for athletes.

Chanakya Chaudhary, expressed pride in hosting the Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 2023 and emphasized the significance of TSAF’s efforts in promoting sport climbing. He stated, “Tata Steel Adventure Foundation is proud to host the Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 2023. Remarkably, this will be the second such tournament Jamshedpur is hosting within a span of one year. This is a testament to the fact that TSAF is aggressively promoting sport climbing not only in its own ecosystem but for the entire country.”

TSAF’s dedication to the development of sports and the enhancement of infrastructure is evident through the inauguration of the new bouldering wall. Tata Steel remains committed to the overall development of sports and will continue organizing tournaments and championships at regular intervals.
