Reliance Jio has launched the JioPhone Prima 4G, a feature phone with 4G capabilities and a range of smart features. This device, running on the KaiOS operating system, grants access to popular apps like YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Google Assistant, marking a significant advancement in the feature phone market.

Unveiled at the India Mobile Congress, the JioPhone Prima includes a microphone-enabled circular button for voice assistant interaction. It also supports essential Jio apps, such as JioTV, JioSaavn, JioNews, and JioCinema, in addition to enabling UPI payments through JioPay.

Despite being a feature phone, the JioPhone Prima surprises with modern connectivity features like Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi support. The device boasts a 2.4-inch TFT LCD screen and a reliable 1,800mAh battery.

With front and rear digital cameras, users can capture memories and communicate visually. However, some consider the ₹2,599 price tag on the higher side compared to the average feature phone price in India, which is around ₹1,000. Nonetheless, it’s expected to appeal to the top 25% of feature phone users.

Reliance Jio also introduces a compelling ₹866 prepaid plan, offering 2GB of data per day, unlimited voice calling, and a Swiggy One Lite membership for 84 days. The membership provides 10 free home deliveries each month on food orders worth ₹149 or more and Instamart orders worth ₹199 or higher.

The JioPhone Prima 4G and bundled prepaid plan represent Reliance Jio’s strategic move to empower feature phone users with digital access, connectivity, and convenience, fostering a more connected and accessible digital future in India.
