Kalinganagar, April 9, 2026: Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) successfully organised the closing ceremony of the 55th National Safety Month at the Safety Leadership Development Centre (SLDC), TSK on Wednesday. The event marked the culmination of a month-long campaign dedicated to reinforcing industrial safety standards and workplace excellence.
The ceremony was graced by Er. Umesh Chandra Sutar, Dy. Director of Factories and Boilers, Jajpur Road Division, Govt. of Odisha, alongside Uttam Singh, Vice President (Operations), TSK, and Rabindra Kumar Jamuda, President, Tata Steel Kalinganagar Workers Union. Among others present on the occasion were senior officials of TSK and Union representatives to celebrate the safety milestones achieved by the workforce.
In alignment with this year’s theme, ‘Engage, Educate, and Empower’, the closing ceremony served as a platform to felicitate employees and business partners who demonstrated exceptional commitment to safety protocols. Awards were presented in several critical categories, including highest coverage in safety training, engagement in safety improvement through Kaizens, and proficiency in emergency response. The ceremony also recognised the Best Vendor Partner’s Safety Professional, highlighting the inclusive approach
TSK takes toward maintaining a secure environment for all personnel on-site.
The month-long celebrations featured an intensive series of training sessions and technical workshops designed to address high-risk activities. These sessions covered essential topics such as gas safety, working in confined space, working at height, welding and gas cutting, and material handling. A key focus was also placed on ‘Learning from Past Accidents’ to foster a culture of proactive prevention. To complement these educational efforts, various competitions for emergency responders and challenges focused on the identification and elimination of commonly accepted unsafe practices were also organised. The winners of these competitions were also awarded during the ceremony.
