Tata Steel Meramandali Conducts Onsite Emergency Mock Drill for Crisis Preparedness

Meramandali: To enhance its safety preparedness, Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM) conducted an Onsite Emergency Mock Drill in the presence of District Crisis Group (DCG) members of Dhenkanal in its plant premises located at Narendrapur, Dhenkanal.
The mock drill was graced by Er. Puspamitra Jena, Assistant Director, Factories & Boiler, Dhenkanal Zone, Government of Odisha, along with senior executives of TSM including Agam Kumar, Chief Safety, H Mahesh Babu, Chief, SMS, Anoop Srivastava, Chief Environment, and other members of DCG from different industries of Dhenkanal and senior executives of Tata Steel Meramandali.

The emergency mock drill was conducted at LD Gas Holder location on a speculative hazardous scenario ‘Release of LD Gas (55 to 60 % carbon monoxide) from Gas Holder due to over pressurisation’. Different teams were formed as per the Onsite Emergency Preparedness Plan, who demonstrated their expertise to mitigate the emergency scenario.

Er. Puspamitra Jena lauded the diligent demonstration of emergency preparedness by the TSM management and provided valuable suggestions for further improvement. The drill was organized by the Safety department under the guidance of Agam Kumar, Chief Safety ensuring the seamless execution of the exercise.

Through this type of simulated exercise, Tata Steel Meramandali reaffirms its commitment to zero harm and emphasizes the importance of industry emergency preparedness.
