Bhubaneswar: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), the joint venture between Tata Power and Odisha Government has implemented several technologies in the past few years to strengthen the distribution network system and improve the reliability of power supply to its 27 lakh customers.

TPCODL’s Central Power System Control Centre (CPSCC) at Bhubaneshwar is one of the key installations that ensures reliable power supply with the deployment of IT& OT technologies like Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and system based Permit To Work (PTW) system “Suraksha Kavach” to ensure the safety of field staff.

CPSCC is manned 24X7 by a dedicated team of Operations Engineers who remotely monitor and control 150 33/11 kV Primary Substations across the major circles of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri to ensure maximum system availability by faster restoration, prudent outage management for preventive and breakdown maintenance of the network equipments so as to ensure safety of equipment & personnel while ensuring reliability of supply.

CPSCC centrally coordinates efficient network operations across the license area, facilitated by SLDC with real time visibility of power drawl at any point in time for real time power management. It also ensures efficient & coordinated operations across the license area as envisaged by the Grid Code.

CPSCC was set up in 2020 in line with Odisha Grid Code (OGC) Regulations 2015 towards establishment of Distribution System Operation & Control Centre by the Discom and is a key step towards Smart Grid Management.
