Bhubaneswar, January 29, 2026: A one-day Capacity Building Workshop for principals of Government Vocational Higher Secondary Schools was organized today. Principals from all 230 Government Vocational Higher Secondary Schools across the state participated in the workshop.
The programme was attended by Smt. Niyati Pattnaik, Director, DHSE, Smt. Binita Senapati, Joint Director, DHSE, Smt. Susmita Sahu, RD, Bhubaneswar, Smt. Sasmita Mali, Joint Director, DHSE, Shri Jitendra Nayak, Deputy Director, DHSE and Dr. Sarojakanta Choudhury , Principal, Rajdhani College among others.
Addressing the participants, Director Smt. Pattnaik highlighted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has laid special emphasis on vocational education. She stated that the workshop would empower principals of vocational institutions and strengthen coordination among them. The workshop, she added, focused on identifying challenges and finding practical solutions for effective implementation of vocational education.
Joint Director Smt. Senapati, in her address, said that vocational education plays a crucial role in making students self-sufficient. She advised principals to encourage students based on their individual interests and guide them towards suitable vocational streams.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sarojakanta Choudhury emphasized that strengthening institutions is essential to effectively take vocational education to students. He noted that prioritizing vocational education and enabling students to become self-reliant is key to achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat. During the programme, Joint Director Smt. Sasmita Mali conducted the program, while Deputy Director Shri Jitendra Nayak delivered the vote of thanks.
The workshop featured detailed discussions on the importance of vocational education, examination management, academic administration, SAMS portal management, and career guidance. Other dignitaries present included Regional Director (Sambalpur) Shri Pabitra Mohan Sahu, Regional Director (Berhampur) Shri Jagannath Dharua, Joint Director Smt. Snigdha Mishra, and Deputy Director Smt. C.H. Bijayalakshmi.
