Berhampur, January: In an effort to enhance power reliability in Aska locality, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has recently undertaken several measures. To enhance power reliability and service quality in Aska, TPSODL has strengthened its power infrastructure to ensure a stable electricity supply for consumers of Aska. A newly installed UR+6 Tower at Bada Nadi River, for the 33 KV line from Aska PSS is among the key initiatives taken by TPSODL. This infrastructure is designed to withstand adverse conditions, including floods, ensuring reliable power supply while safeguarding residents from electrical hazards that can occur due to these conditions.
Earlier, the ground clearance of conductor above the river crossing was low, and power cut was the only solution to avoid 33 kV electric line touching the water level, which was an unsafe situation for the public and the fishermen. Now, with the installation of UR+6 Tower at Bada Nadi, the ground clearance is increased to 24 metres, mitigating the chances of 33 kV line conductor coming in contact with the water level and ensuring safety of nearby residents. Additionally, with the UR+6 Tower power supply will remain steady during any cyclonic condition due to its strength.
This will benefit over 13,000 consumers across Aska NAC and seven Panchayats, significantly improving service quality and reliability. Further reinforcing its commitment to uninterrupted power supply, TPSODL has installed an 11 KV Ring Main Unit (RMU) at Aska Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH). This unit draws supply from two feeders namely Bus stand feeder and medical feeder, providing 24-hour power availability to critical healthcare facilities. The major benefit of installing the RMU is that if any breakdown occurs in one feeder, still power can be supplied across another feeder, ensuring a 24×7 power supply to Aska medical. This initiative ensures Smooth operations at the hospital, enhancing the quality and reliability of medical services, even at the time of any calamities.
Commenting on the recent development, Mr Amit Kumar Garg, CEO, TPSODL said, “Starting from its inception, TPSODL has remained steady in strengthening the power infrastructure of Southern Odisha, delivering seamless power supply to our consumers. The newly installed UR+6 Tower at Aska is just another remarkable work to ensure reliable power supply in the region. Our team is working tirelessly for deployment of innovative features like RMU to enhance power supply to Critical facilities like hospitals on a priority basis.”
