Balasore: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), the joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha is undertaking gamut of initiatives towards infrastructure augmentation and ensuring better electricity services to the consumers. The electricity consumers of Dhamra Electrical Sub-Division under BNED Division of TPNODL Bhadrak Circle were getting power supply from 33/11kV Dharma PSS and 33/11kV Bideipur PSS. The 33kV source for both these PSS was earlier from OPTCL’s Soro Grid which is approximately 100 km away. Due to such long 33kV feeder length, it was resulting in very low voltage at receiving end. The receiving end voltage at Dharma PSS was around 16 KV (against expected 33 kV) and 5.5 kV (against expected 11 kV).
The consumers of Dhamra, Dosinga, Bansada, Koithkola, Chandinipala, Karanjamala, Karnapali, Panchutikri, Balimunda, Gopabandhu Nagar, Bideipur, Karajagadia, Binabhavenagar, Govindpur, Aandula, Naikanidihi, Rajgharpokhari were facing low voltage issues since last so many years since inception of power distribution system in the area.
OPTCL has commissioned the 220/132/33kV Balimunda Grid S/S whereby the 132/33kV Power Transformers were charged and 33 kV supply was made available on 6th June23. TPNODL had parallelly taken up the construction of new 33kV link lines to evacuate the supply from Balimunda Grid S/S with the objective to overcome the low voltage problem in the area on priority. Accordingly, on 16.06.2023 the new 33kV link lines to Dhamra PSS and Bideipur PSS were charged from Balimunda Grid S/S. Now, the receiving end voltage at Dhamra & Bideipur PSS have boosted up to 33kV.
This has resolved the age-old low voltage issue and Reliable, Quality power supply is now available in Dhamra area.
Further TPNODL is constructing a new 17 km link line from Chandbali Grid Substation to Dhamra PSS expected to be completed in next 2 months, which will further improve voltage in Dhamra area.
As per the detailed load flow study carried out by M/s PRDC, another 220/132/33 kV Grid substation is planned to be implemented at Bhandari pokhari in near future which will mitigate the low voltage issues in the Dhamnagar side as well.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bhaskar Sarkar, CEO, TPNODL said, “It gives us great pleasure to be able to provide relief to all consumers of Dhamra area, Bhadrak District through linking the Balimunda Grid Substation to the Long 33 kV line from Soro Grid Substation. We hope through this as well as other initiatives being taken to improve the network in Bhadrak District,TPNODL would be able to provide a much more reliable and quality power supply to all residents. We sincerely thank OPTCL for their support to commission the Balimunda Grid Substation.”
