TPWDOL employee brutally attacked over pending electricity bill, one arrested

Burla: An employee of TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has been brutally attacked and assaulted to death in connection with payment of pending electricity bills. one accused has been arrested after a case was registered in the Kantbanjhi police station of Bolangir district.
Mr. Sameer Kumar Sahu, Assistant Commercial Officer working in TPWODL’s Kantbanjhi Section of Balangir District, has been the victim of this fatal attack. On 19.12.2023 at around 1.15 PM, Mr Sahu disconnected the electricity because of total pending electricity bill of Rs.1 Lakh 44 thousand 9 hundred 25 on Mr. Tularam Behera (Consumer No./Consumer No.- 912211100625) resident of Ward-10 Behrapada under District Kantbanjhi Block. In response to this incident, the two sons of Mr. Tularam Behera, Rajendra Behera and Galu Behera, attacked Mr. Sahu. The two accused also threatened to kill Mr. Sahu at if he does not restore the electricity. In this incident, Mr. Sahu sustained injuries in various parts of his body.
Mr. Sahu reported this incident to Kantbanjhi police station of Balangir district on 19.12.2023. Based on Mr. Sahu’s information, Kantbanji police station registered a case under IPC section 341\294\323\506\34 and started investigation. We have come to learned that the accused Galu Behera was arrested by the police on 30.12.2024.
All customers are hereby requested by TPWODL to pay their pending electricity bills regularly and cooperate with the electricity employee. Under no circumstances they are advised to take law into their hands.
